The multiverse

Five universes.
Unlock them all.

Each universe runs on its own physics and has its own guardian. You begin where reality has already shattered. As you grow stronger you unlock new universes and technologies, and how you move through them is up to you. At the far end waits the one place that was never built to be mined: the Observers' sanctuary.

01Fractured reality, shattered dimensions

Crystal-Void

Difficulty 1 / 5

Everything here is a piece of something that used to be bigger, hanging where it stopped. This is a universe that has already finished failing, which is exactly why it is safe enough to start in. Every splinter you walk past was somebody's physics, and the Architects log the place as stable because nothing is left to move.

RosterDronesDrifters

Guardian The Fracture In development

Assembled out of a reality that already finished, held in a shape by something that will not let the pieces settle. It is the first thing on the route that does not die on schedule, and the first to teach you that what worked in phase one stops working in phase two. Every Drone and Drifter behind you was preparation for that single idea.

02Clockwork dimension, precision

Mechanical

Difficulty 2 / 5

Everything in this universe is on time. That reads as fair right up until you notice that being predictable is not the same as being survivable. It is the closest any universe comes to showing its own substrate honestly — the pattern sits near enough the surface to read, and the beings inside never looked, because they were busy keeping to the schedule.

RosterDronesOrbiters

Guardian The Escapement In development

An escapement is the part of a mechanism that releases stored energy in measured steps — the thing that makes a clock a clock rather than a spring unwinding. It does not feint and it will not surprise you once. The whole fight is whether you can act on information you definitely have, and most operators lose it holding the correct answer.

03Living dimension, growth/decay

Bio-Organic

Difficulty 3 / 5

The first universe that is alive, and the first where the things trying to kill you do it with something resembling intent. Nothing here was manufactured; it grew into the shape it needed, at a speed you can watch. The Architects did not build this one — they planted it, let it run, and came back for the yield.

RosterSeekersSplitters

Guardian The Bloom In development

It is growing while you fight it, into forms it did not have when you started. Damage is not a subtraction here, it is an input: lean on one weapon and you teach it exactly what to become. The Architects seeded this universe and walked away, and somewhere in the waiting the yield produced a gardener.

04Entropy dimension, chaos

Molten

Difficulty 4 / 5

Entropy with the lid off: three enemy types at once and none of them coordinating. That sounds survivable and is the exact reason this universe kills people, because you cannot read a room that is not being written by anybody. Whatever you worked out in Mechanical, leave it at the door — order is expensive and disorder is free.

RosterSeekersDriftersSplitters

Guardian The Cascade In development

No pattern, no schedule, nothing to count, and considerably more of it than anything you have met. The Escapement tested whether you could act on perfect information; this is the inverse, and the read is not coming. Order is expensive and disorder is free — this is what a guardian looks like when nobody has paid to keep it regular in a very long time.

05Observer's sanctuary, transcendence

Garden

Difficulty 5 / 5

The Observers keep a sanctuary and this is it — the one place on the route that was not built for extraction, which is why it is defended better than anything the Architects own. Its boss surrenders the Observer cog and nothing else in the omniverse does. You arrive last, armed, at the end of a route built to grind you down, and you are the trespasser this time.

RosterAll typesCosmic SpiritsVoid Entities

Guardian The Observer

The last door: it stands in the sanctuary and drops the Observer cog, and nothing else in the omniverse does. Tendrils, then Cracked Armour, then Transcendent — read those in order and the fight tells you what it is about before you have finished having it. That is not an escalation of difficulty, it is a description of what happens to a thing that loses.

06Bestiary

Everything that wants you dead

Five core enemy types, joined in the Garden by Cosmic Spirits and Void Entities. Each universe changes how they behave. Learn what they do, or learn it the hard way.

Drone

Drone

100 pts
Behaviour
Moves directly toward player
Threat
Pressure; forces movement; swarm threat

It has one instruction and no opinion about it. That would be easy to answer if there were ever one of them, and there are never one of them. You will die to the dumbest thing in the omniverse because forty of them agreed on where you were standing.

Drifter

Drifter

150 pts
Behaviour
Random drift, bounces off boundaries
Threat
Unpredictable obstacle; blocks escape routes

Nobody built this to hunt you. It wanders, meets a boundary, and leaves at whatever angle the boundary decided, for as long as the universe holds. You can read a thing that wants you dead; the Drifter is just suddenly in the doorway you had already chosen.

Orbiter

Orbiter

200 pts
Behaviour
Circles the player at fixed radius
Threat
Creates a cage; restricts movement options

It circles, never closing, and for about four seconds that reads as mercy. Then you notice you have been choosing your steps around it since it arrived. It is not trying to hit you — it is making the room smaller, one orbit at a time.

Seeker

Seeker

250 pts
Behaviour
Fast aggressive pursuit
Threat
Punishes stationary play; high priority target

Faster than you, and aware of it. The Drone commits to where you were; this one commits to where you are going and corrects the whole way in. Kill it first — everything else in the room is willing to wait.

Splitter

Splitter

300 pts
Behaviour
Splits into 2-3 fragments on death
Threat
Area denial; punishes reckless fire

Shoot it and it does not die, it divides. The arithmetic is not on your side and was never meant to be: this is the Architects' reply to anyone who solves a room by holding the trigger down. Kill it in the open, or do not kill it yet.

07The last door

The Observer

The guardian of the Garden, and the only thing in the omniverse that drops the Observer cog. It fights in three phases.

  1. Phase 1 The Observer, phase 1: Tendrils

    Tendrils

  2. Phase 2 The Observer, phase 2: Cracked Armour

    Cracked Armour

  3. Phase 3 The Observer, phase 3: Transcendent

    Transcendent

The last door: it stands in the sanctuary and drops the Observer cog, and nothing else in the omniverse does. Tendrils, then Cracked Armour, then Transcendent — read those in order and the fight tells you what it is about before you have finished having it. That is not an escalation of difficulty, it is a description of what happens to a thing that loses.
