Convergence
Figures stand on a golden mandala floor around a floating golden cog with a blue eye, lit by rays of yellow, green and violet light.
Look at the floor. Somebody laid that mandala tile by tile, by hand, and was proud of it, and never once asked why every line points at the middle. Everything in this room points at the middle. The light, the stairs, the people. That isn’t architecture. That’s a funnel with good taste.
They call it Convergence. They come on the holy days in their good clothes and stand where the lines tell them to stand, and I open the eye, and they feel something enormous, and they go home lighter.
Lighter. They think that’s grace. It’s a withdrawal, and I’m the account. I can’t close the eye. I have been trying for six hundred years.
